Tideland (2005)

This movie is about a monster shark (a train), morbid things and dead people being stuffed like animals... not morbid at all.
We get to follow Jeliza-Rose (Jodelle Ferland) whose mother dies and whose father decides to flee and take her to her grandmother’s house. There her dad OD and sits in a chair during most of the movie since Jeliza-Rose don't realize he is dead.
She play with her decapitated doll heads when she first meets Dell, a crazy woman who likes to seduce young men and stuff animals and people. Jeliza-Rose believe they are best friends after they have exchanged like two sentences.
Then there is Dells brother Dickens who is mentally challenged who does not have all the horses in the stable, he is not the sharpest knife in the knife box, his elevator does not go to the top floor... you get the idea.
Dickens and Jeliza-Rose becomes friends, girlfriend/boyfriend and eventually both hated by Dell. The sickest thing in this movie (there is ALOT) is the relationship between Dickens and Jeliza-Rose... Since Jeliza-Rose is like 11 and Dickens is Much older since he had an affair with Jeliza-Roses grandmother before she died. But then Dickens where ALOT younger than the grandmother.

We agree this is a sick and twisted movie... but the acting is extraordinary and there is no plot. It's all about sick and twisted things so we give it a 6/10... it would have been better if it had a plot, story, meaning... SOMETHING.
Jodelle Ferland is just pure wonderful and believable as Jeliza-Rose.. I mean which 11 year old girl gets to make the heroin cocktails to her dad, sleep in her dead fathers lap, make out with a older man and a doll... head?
We just sat there had where like "WHAT THE FUCK" but the we realized it was just a movie. So now we are both enchanted by her acting... so expect more movie reviews from movies with her in them...
