The Dark

The Dark (2005)

Is about when the daughter to James and Adéle drowns they the day after gets a visit from a young girl, Ebrill, who supposedly died 60 years ago. And the way she died has some resemblance to Sarah (the daughter). Adéle who can not except the fact that her daughter is dead starts to dig around in Ebrills past to find out how it comes that she is alive and Sarah is not.
It is the start to a journey who will change all there lifes.

The movie has a great story, beautiful nature and an interesting topic.
It is based on folk lore from Wales about Annwyn and so on. Annwyn is the place you come to when you die.
It has all the ingredients that is needed for a good thriller drama to work. A dead girl, flashbacks to a different time, legends and sects who commit suicide.

The girl who plays Ebrill (Abigail Stone) did really freak me out though... but that was the point. I just could not believe that The Dark is the only movie she has done. I mean she acted better than Maria Bello who played Adéle. And the girl who played Sarah (Sophie Stuckey) did also an awesome performance.
It just blew me away. I got chills... that is how good they were.
The movie was also beautifully shot with nice contrasts and angles. I really liked the 'dark' and 'water' scenes they did. Really Beautiful.
