Stratosphere Girl (2004)
Is a movie from German writer/director Matthias X. Oberg. The cast consists of supermodel Chloé Winkel who plays the main character Angela. We also see one of Sweden’s better know actresses Tuva Novotny, Hollands Tara Elders and so on. As you might have realized this movie has many actresses and actors from different parts of the world.
Its about Angela, a Belgian (who studied in Germany) who after her graduation party goes with the dances DJ back to Tokyo. There she starts to work in a bar where she acts like a kind of escort girl or something similar. Though no sex involved.
Soon she starts realize that things aren’t as it seems. She starts to investigate a murder, a murder from one of the girls who used to work and live with her roommates/colleagues.
As an aspiring artist she draws everything she can and she soon starts to realize that the answer is in her drawings.
This movie is just wonderful. It says on the DVD cover that it's a mix between Lost in Translation, Amelie from Montmartre and Japan animé and I so agree. The cast is really interesting, the sets and the plot has some very great twist. You don't know where the movie is going but that's kind of the thrill of it.
This is Chloé's first and only movie so far. But it does not show. Either she has taken classes or it's just in her nature.
I'll give this movie a 8/10.
I also love how they mix the comics with the reality. Awesome, pure genius.
