Resident Evil

Okay yesterday we had this Resident Evil marathon, all three of them... Got quite tired, but we survived.
Don't get me wrong, we like the movies, it just there was a lot at once... I (Elin) had spent four hours in a car with a sleeping brother who didn't keep her company.
Emelie spent three ours on a train just so we could meet up and eat and watch movies.
So Elin, Emelie, Elin's brother Pontus, our new made friend Håkan and the house mouse Franz-Henry parked us in the sofas with chips and candy bags.

Resident Evil (2002)

So the first one, you really get the claustrophobic feeling the movie's trying to give... But we don't know if that's the meaning of the
movie.
It's about Alice, security guard with temporary memory loss who follows a team down to this underground facility who's under closedown...
The team's this "awesome" super people who die way to easily. The one who survive the
longest of them are the coolest one of them... so we were happy...
Apart from Alice the movie's about this virus called T-virus who make dead people to zombies and so on... the typical stuff. But what we like's that they don't try to make it like a horror... They make it more like a comedy/action with great
music...

Resident Evil: Apocalypse
(2004)

So the second time we m
eet Alice she's a super woman with new strength and speed. She's been played with by the "Umbrella corporation" and so on...
This time it's not so claustrophobic feeling because they are in a city, Raccoon City, and some new character’s showed up one of them (the most awesome girl in the Resident world yet) Jill Valentine...
They are fighting the clock, zombies and a gene manipulated human called Nemesis even though it's supposed to be one of the people from the first movie...
Anyway they're fighti
ng the clock to get a ride with a helicopter who's leaving the town before it's getting erased from the maps of the world...

Resident Evil: Extinction (2007)

This movie starts a couple of years after the Raccoon incident where the virus manage to escape after all and now basically the whole world's been infected by the virus and those who haven’t move around and never stay on one place for to long...
We still follow Alice and some of the characters from the second movie... and they move in a convoy and is trying to find a peaceful place where they can settle down, but there's one problem they
have no gas.
So they are getting out finding gas but guessing what...
The Umbrella Corporation Inter feer

The first one in the series 7/10
the second one 7/10
the third one 5/10

Out at the Wedding

I have to say I had some expectations about this movie, not good ones. After seeing Lee Friedlander (director) I had veeerry low expectations.
I didn't even manage to get through Girl Play (her other film) It where bizarre how boring and unrealistic that movie was.
SO you can imagine how I got a big but good surprise that the movies practically didn't have anything in common apart from the fact that there's lesbians in it.

The movie's about this woman, Alex who's in her early 30s who's together with a black, Jewish man whom she's engaged with.
But guess what, his whole family including him believes her family's dead even though they are pretty much living and kicking.
When Alex goes home to be on her little sister wedding, during a clearly misunderstanding everyone believes she's gay,and after some more misunderstandings she finally comes out as gay even though she's not.
So when her sister's coming to visit and meet Alex girlfriend (Dana who's here boyfriends name) she hires this "lesbian" to be her girlfriend.

The whole movie's a big misunderstanding, but in a funny, comical way. And there's some good very mini bi characters who's played by some funny and pretty talented females.

I'll give it a 6/10 mabey even 6.5/10

Show Me

Show Me from 2004, I don't really know how to describe the movie, guess it's drama thriller, but leaning more against the drama part.
The movie's about Sarah, a "rich" 30- something woman who gets kidnapped by two young squeegee kids.
Jenna (Katherine Isabelle) and her friend Jackson don't seem to know what they want, even though it gets more clear towards the end.

The acting's good, the plot is okey but the most impressive thing is the nature it's filmed in.
Anyway the movie have some unexpected turns, which just makes it more enjoyable.

I mostly saw the movie because Katherine Isabelle where in it, but I got a nice surprise to find out the rest of the cast where not that bad.

6/10 it where not awesome but still not bad, recommend to see it if you're in the mood...

Diary of the Dead

I am a huge George A Romero fan. In fact I have all the original 'dead' movies on DVD and love them like my own children...this however will never get close to my DVD shelf.

this movie was about a group of young film students run into real-life zombies while filming a horror movie of their own...the beginning is actually quite good. The voice-over and the starting scenes invite for a great movie and many opertuneties. However it took less then 10 minutes before I wanted to bang my head into the wall.

The acting wasn't bad. The idea itself wasn't bad it was just, well predictable and annoying and too much of a teen-movie. George Romero usually has his touch on movies but where I didn't feel him at all.

If you're in the mood for a typical teen splat/gore movie then sure check this one out but if you want a great zombie movie I would suggest you look for the original 'Dawn of the dead' or any other in the triliogy.

I give this a 3/10

Another Cinderella Story

Did you hate High School musical?? or thought it where okey-ish then you would love this movie.
It's a modern version of the classic tale Cinderella. But everything's still there, the wicked stepmother and the two dumb *i'm the most beautiful creature god created* stepsisters.
But to be fair it's the stepmother and the stepsisters who's the best parts in the film.
Jane Lynch (L-word) plays the Stepmother, she's an old pop sensation who still think she's the best in the pop world.
Her two daughters played by Emily Perkins and Katherine Isabelle reprise there role as sisters for the fourth time (the other three times in the Ginger Snaps trilogy which I totally love). But in this film they are not scary crazy but just funny, dumb and totally airhead crazy.
The Prince everyone want is a pop star and is portrayed like a Justin Timberlake look alike.
Cinderella, oh Cinderella, she's still the stepmothers slave and maid but her biggest dream is to get into The Manhattan Academy of Dance.
Then you have the classic Uber bitch and the friendly best friend, the friendly star best friend.

Yet it's original, specially the stepsisters and the stepmother.

I really recommend you see this one even though there's some bad acting by some (like the prince and Cinderella).
I'll give it 6/10
It's not great, but well worth to see, specially if you're Ginger Snaps fans, then this film will be priceless because of the Emily and Katherine scenes.

Walk all Over Me

Do you like Dominatrix with guts and planing skills? then this is the movie for you.
The movie's about Alberta (Leelee Sobieski) who run away fom her home town after accidentally lost her bosses money.
She runs to her friend Celene (Tricia Helfer)who she after a while discovers works as a dominatrix.
When Alberta need some money to pay back Celene after ruin one of her costumes she takes on Celenes Identity.
She meets this guy called Paul and she follows him home, there his old boss's waiting thinking Paul has stolen half a million dollars.
After that point the movie just gets better and better. They mix serious with comedy perfectly.
The soundtrack's great too. It fits so good with the scenes and the movie.

to round it up... See it

St Trinian's and Absolute Giganten

“St Trinian's, a school for "young ladies" with its anarchic doctrine of free expression, brings together a motley crew of ungovernable girls who, using their wit and ingenuity, save the school from bankruptcy”

At first glance this looked like just another teen movie. As soon as it starts that thought is quickly killed though, it’s clear that St Trinian has its own language as well as a special tone right from the beginning.

All characters are developed carefully and match together into a mass of unique women and men. The groups of girls that at start hate each other beyond belief soon find out that when they are forced together they are not that different after all.

The comedy is spotless and even though the main story is sometimes a bit cliché it doesn’t matter because the characters make it new and fresh.

St Trinian's from 2007 is based on a cartoon. The movie is sassy, fun, smart and absolutely adorable.
It's about this school, St Trinian's, it's the worst school in the whole England. They teach how to blow up things the best way, got anger management courses where they practice target shooting. When the school later's treated to close down the students decides to take matters in their own hands.

You can even spot Lena Headey as the new English teacher; her portrayal of this semi-normal woman is just hilarious.

I (emelie) would give this movie a 7/0

And I (Elin) give it 8/10

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0964587/

Absolute Giganten from 1999 is a german film set in Hamburg, it depicts how a group of young Germans react to the prospect of one of them leaving for ever, and involves drink, V8 engines, and an extraordinary game of table-football.

There table-football scene’s probably the most original thing I’ve ever seen.
The performances by the actors and (one) actress are explicit. This is my second movie I review here with Julia Hummer, I know I might have a movie crush on her. But just watch her in a movie.
Her character in Ab
solute Giganten is hilarious but still very serious.

Anyway, they end up in so fucked up situations it’s hard to not love it. Just being chased by a pack of circus artist who worship Elvis, dresses like Elvis and talk like Elvis.

I just have 2 words for you, See It.

9/10 easy
