The Quiet

The Quiet (2005)

Beautiful, simply beautiful. Dot, Dot, Dot the end.

The movie is a dark, serious and artistic. It's about Dot, who after her father died moves in with her godparents and their daughter. She deaf and mute and she likes to go through life invisible. But when she realizes that everything isn't as it should in her new home she has to start getting noticed.

This is one of the most artistically made movies we have ever seen. Every light angle, every monolog, every move was so beautifully composed it gave us the chills.
And we cannot believe everyone stud us up for this movie. Camilla Belle does an awesome interpretation of Dot, the deaf and mute girl. She plays the piano like Beethoven himself by feeling the vibrations of the tones. Her acting in this movie must have been hard since she had to look unmoved even though she knew everything that happens around her.
Nina (the daughter of the house) played by Elisha Cuthbert, is your typical shallow cheerleader the first time
we see her in the movie, but once you get to know her we soon realize she has a dark secret.
The chemistry between Camilla and Elisha is just mind blowing. Morbid but mind blowing. Every scene they made with each other gave us chills.
The monologs in the movie where just pure genius artistic with a touch of greatness. For example:

Dot: "All I wanted was to be invisible. It was a simple request. It didn't involve anyone else. When I was in a room with another person, I felt like I was only half there. When I was in a room with two other people, I felt like a third of myself. When I was in a room with three other people, I felt like a quarter of myself. And when I was in a whole crowd of people, I felt like nobody."

That's just one of many more.
Crap we can't still let go of the setting the movie gave us. The dark slightly morbid with the touch of the first light of the day.
We give this a 9.7/10... we are so going to buy a copy each of this...

Dot: "But being invisible isn't worth it in the end, because when you're invisible, other people may not see you, but you can't help seeing other people."

IMDB

We almost forgot about the amazing soundtrack who filled our ears and minds with the mood the setting was putting out. Genious, deadly and totally screwed up.

The Shrink is In

The Shrink Is In (2001)

Imagine Courteney Cox as a person with way to may phobies and then she takes on her shrinks role and starts to help them... well that's what this movie is about.

Samantha, a travel writer suffering from claustrophobia, agoraphobia, and a whole host of other phobias, isn't exactly lucky in her romantic fate. But when her pshycologist suffers a major mental breakdown, she secretly poses as the missing shrink in an effort to turn Michael, her new neighbor, towards her and away from his girlfriend. Through her chase, Samantha meets the happy-go-lucky magazine salesman, Henry. What follows is a series of events that lead to the one question Samantha has to face: Is she thinking with her heart... or with her mind?

Both Courteney and her real life husband David Arquette is in this movie, and they are funny as a monkey on 10 legs. Which is WAy funny.
Courteneys character also had a dog, a cool little pussy hunting dog. We loved him with all off our hearts.
The movie was funny and original, we give it a 5/10, we do recomend you to see it but not buy it if you haven't seen it before. Since it may not go well with everyone.

Grindhouse (Planet Terror & Death Proof)

Planet Terror (2007)

Rose McGowan is a go-go dancer (not cry-cry dancer) who has very many useless talents which soon come in handy when the town she lives in get infected by a virus that makes people look like Quasimodo in boils filled with pus.
A few people, who are immune to the virus, starts to fight back against the flesh eating Quasimodo’s. By now Rose has gotten a new leg since her first leg was eaten, the second one penetrated through Quentin Tarantino’s eye... so now she has a gun that can blow your brains out... literally.
And among the other Quasimodo kicking people we have a doctor, doctor Dakota (Marley Shelton), whose h
usband is an evil son of a bitch who also is hypochondriac and a bit paranoid since he thinks Dakota has an affair with a woman named Tammy... about this part The husband Doctor was right.... moahahahahaha.
While Dakota runs through a window with a Venetian blind wrapped around her as she fell into a garbage can (this has Elin done... without the blind). She has no control over her hands cos her husband gave them paralyzing shots. This was very funny, well not the sticking needles in her hands part but the way she tried to like for an example open the car door, driving the car and rising her hand.

Now we have moved on to

IMDB

Death Proof (200 unt 7)

This movie has a very boring first half, you only need to see Rose McGowan blond once in a life time (we have seen the movie before). The second part on the other hand is just pure brilliant, though it was a very nice 20 seconds right before the second part when our beloved Dr. Dakota turned up for a few moments.
Anyways the whole good part is about four women who likes to drive fast cars and make stupid games (we want to try... Elin has done some of the crazy stuff here 2) and a crazy guy who also likes driving fast. The crazy guy starts to follow and play with the girls (he thought) when he tried to ram them off the road. We laughed when he got a bullet in his arm after yelling "This was fun ladies, now I have to AUCH"... This is a very good man-hating movie... which we love.

IMDB

The acting was superb in both movies. Planet Terror is shot in classic grindhouse manners which we love since we ARE grindhouse fans. Death Proof on the other hand has the same elements in the story though it's shoot in a completely different way, more serious.
Until Tracie Thoms starts to curse, like a rabbit on crack. Rosario Dawson does a very nice New Zeeland accent and we never knew she could kick her leg that high. Zoë Bell is just pure amazing, all she needs to do is to talk and we melt into a puddle in the bed (WE LOVE THE ACCENT), Mary Elisabeth Winstead in a cheerleader outfit with pomm pomms and is as easily fooled as Elins old odd friend.
Rose McGowan... what more do we need to say, she's hot, she's got a gun as a leg, she kills people AND she wants to be a stand-up comedian.
Marley Shelton = hot doctor with paralyzed hands, and when they are unparalyzed she fires a little gun who shoot needles with poison in them YAY.

As you might have guessed we love the women in these two movies. We are sure there were men in them too but we didn't see them.
Planet Terror gets a 8/10
Death Proof gets a 8/10 too... well the second part of the movie that is.

-A big + for your who managed to read it all... though a big slap in the ass for you who didn't... Elin and Em!

Fierce People

Fierce People (2005)

Sixteen-year-old Finn (Anton Yelchin) wants nothing more than to escape New York and spend the summer in South America studying the Iskanani Indians, or "Fierce People," with the anthropologist father he's never met. But Finn's dreams are shattered when he is arrested in a desperate effort to help his drug-dependent mother, Liz (Diane Lane), who scrapes by working as a masseuse. Determined to get their lives back on track, Liz moves the two of them into a guesthouse on the vast country estate of her ex-client, the aging aristocratic billionaire, Ogden C. Osbourne (Donald Sutherland). There Finn meets and starts a relationship with Odgen's granddaughter Maya (Kristen Stewart). And he also befrends Mayas older brother Bryce (Chris Evans). Everything seems to go great until Finn one night get raped by a mysterious man at the estate.

This movie was just fucked up, in a good way that is. I had no idea what the movie was about or anything such... all I knew was that Kristen Stewart was in it and that's all the convincing I needed to see this movie.
I mean just Kristens characters entrance in this movie was just WOW, Finn got trapped in a animal trap (one of those close thingys you use for bears) and the first thing she does is to give him crap for hunting deer on there estate.
She's just pure awesome in this movie, but then again when is she not?.
I don't know what to say about the movie more than I LOVE IT... even though Anton Yelchin was abit annoying. But I grew sympathy for him after the rape, really good acting.

I'll have to give this movie an 8/10, it was weird, strange and absolutley wonderful. I loved how they put in these metaphores and similaritys with the Indian tribes way to deal with things. And they also cut in the indians in the movie like they where one of the people. Though they didn't came until it was twoards the end.

All I've got to say is... WATCH IT.

Rent: Filmed Live on Broadway

Rent: Filmed Live on Broadway(2008)

This is probably going to be my (Emelie) new DVD purchase. I watched the old RENT movie from 2005 about 2 years ago and fell in love. RENT is a classic but I have to say that this new movie, which is really a professional recording of the show on Broadway, is much better than the old movie…

How does one even go about explaining RENT? It’s so much more than a movie/show, it’s a cult and a classic. I will try and break it down though,

Set in New York City's gritty East Village, the revolutionary rock opera RENT tells the story of a group of bohemians struggling to live and pay their rent. "Measuring their lives in love," these starving artists strive for success and acceptance while enduring the obstacles of poverty, illness and the AIDS epidemic.
In the heart of these people you find one of my favorite characters, Angel. His/her journey from falling in love with Collins
to getting sick is so heartbreaking and for me it is the heart of the show.

This version of RENT (as a difference to the old one) is build pretty much only of the songs. It may make it harder to follow but it also deepens the music.
As far as the c
ast goes this cast is quite different. The only one same in both movies is Tracie Thoms who plays Joanne. She rocks the role. In this version she plays up against Eden Espinosa instead of Idina Menzel (awesome choice). Eden really is funnier, prettier and sings better. The rest of the cast was brilliant as well but for me Eden, Tracie and Justin Johnston (Angel) stole the show. I do miss the 2005 movie Collins though.

The effects are of course not like other movies. This is a recording of the show on Broadway so it’s on stage, you do however get amazing angles and its shot like a real movie. You won’t miss a thing. Of course this is the real show, not the movie version that was badly put together. Some of the best songs were not even in the movie but now you can hear them here.

I’m biased. I have loved RENT for a long time (even if apparently it’s not cool. Who cares anyway?)
I give this a 9.8/10. Hands down amazing, I will buy it the second it comes available on DVD next month.

Severance

Severance (2006)

First we need to state that I watched this just because Laura Harris was in it. With that said I went in with low expectations…which was probably a good plan.

The movie is about a group of people who work together and are sent out on a team-building weekend. The 5-star hotel resort turns out to be an abandoned shed in the woods. One of the guys claims he saw a man, of course no one believes him since he ate quite a few magic mushrooms a little bit earlier. Now you all know how this goes but there were some nice twists in this one.

It’s filmed in an interesting way, lots of cool angles and some of the acting is great. Laura of course is top class (even if she is the only one without an English accent) but some of the others are not in the same league. No one is really terrible though.
The effects are very B, very good B though. This movie was never meant as a horror movie, its mean to be B classed and they do a good job of drawing laughter out of the audience even in the oddest places.

All together I would give this a 4.5/10, it’s worth a watch if you get the offer but I wouldn’t buy it. Of course if you’re a fan of Laura (like me) it’s worth to see it just for her.

IMDB

The Ruins

The Ruins (2008)

Is a bad movie with great special effects. We get to follow friends who's on a holiday in Mexico. When they meet a German man they decide to follow him to a Mayan ruin. But when they get there things start to happen, the plant who souround the temple plant it's seeds in the human body, or just eat it depends on it's mood.
As you might have understood by what I just told you it's is a very bad horror movie... that is if you don't actually like B horror movies with a quite big budget.

The best parts in the movie was the beginning and the ending. The movie starts with a woman sitting in a dark room crying for help. But she gets snapped away by something in the dark.
In the ending they play Yeah Yeah Yeahs song Phenomenon (Me like)
They also had a very grosse amputation scene in the movie, it actually gave me chills. And to see Laura Ramsey slice her self up to get the plants out of her wasen't a pretty sight either.
The acting was great and very beliable for a movie who should not even be alowed to be mentioned.
I like both Jena Malone who played Amy in the movie and Laura Ramsey who played Stacy. They have both been in some of my favorite movies and they are just superb actresses.
I'll have to give this movie a 4/10... and 3 points of them are for the effects, Jena and Laura.

Sodot, Ha- (aka The Secrets)

Sodot, Ha- (2007)

Is a beautifully told story about two women finding their own voices in a repressive orthodox culture where females are forbidden to sing, let alone speak out.

We get to follow Noemi (Ania Bukstein) and Michel (Michal Shtamler) who both studies at a Jewish seminary for women in the ancient Kabalistic seat of Safed.
They also deliver food to people who can't make it their own. One of these people is a woman called Anouk (Fanny Ardant). She's dying and an convicted murderer. Both Noemi and Michel wants to help this woman to come to terms with her sin, so they start doing a cleansing ceremony to help Anouks soul to get clean from this sin.
It's all illegal, but they do it for the greater cause. As you might understand things happen, but not things you might first think. It's a very unpredictable movie who is very nicely written.

The movie is set in Israel but mixes both Hebrew and French in it. The movie is so original in a since that I have never heard or seen a movie who takes it all from a woman’s perspective. It is interesting to follow these women who are suppressed by the religion they all have been raised to follow, and when they later discover there is so much more to life than being a good wife.
The acting is very believable, strong and beautiful.
One other thing I found quite interesting was that they were all naked or semi naked in a couple of scenes but the only 'love' scene they had their clothes on. It was an unexpectable moment.
The movie is full of these moments, and for me who don't know so much about the religion and there way of life I really appreciated this movie.
I give it an easy 8/10. . . Watch it if you have the chance.

Also a big plus for the incredibly beautiful DVD cover.

Twilight

Twilight (2008)

Well anyone who has been up to date the last year has probably already heard or even seen Twilight. You might even have read the books.
I first read about the movie about two years ago after checking out Kirsten Stewart on IMDB since I really like her as an actress. She is multitalanted, gorgeous and very good at what she does.
So I really only watched this movie for Kirsten... at first anyways.

It's about Bella who moves to live with her dad. There in the new town and in the new school she makes friends but soon notice the quite and secretive Edward. Bella and Edward falls in love, and soon Bella realizes why and what's so different with Edward.

There is much like a typical High School drama. Girl meets boy who have a strange family. Girl has friends who are there for her while one can't stop drool over her.
Yet there is something standing out. I doubt it has to do with the whole vampire plot or so... I can't put my finger on it.
It might be Kirsten, It might be the essence of vampires (since they are very erotic creatures) and so on.
I for one really love vampires... not only cos they are erotic in nature but for there mystical appearance, past and way to live. It's fascinating on a level I can't describe. I don't know how many of you guys out there who agree with me... but there sure a hell must be one or so.

Kirsten did a awesome acting work as usual, even though the plot between Bella and Edward was part wise a bit cheesy it was in overall a very good movie, great effects and a very cool baseball game.
I give this movie a 6.8/10, could have been better, but it also could have been a lot worse.

YAY for Kirsten, you other Kirsten fans out there a movie to keep your eyes open for in a near feature. "The Runaways" where Kirsten is portraying Joan Jett in the legendary all-girl rock band.

Råzone

Råzone (2006) also known as "Life Hits/The Raw Zone"

This Danish movie is uncomfterable to watch, which was a good thing when you understand what it's about.

We get to follow the bad girl gang in your typical danish High School... They bully people, steal, drink and use drugs. But when Christina (one of the "gang" leaders) starts to develop a conciense she gets kicked out of the gang and end up the gangs favorite victim.
The bullying soon gets out of hand and things starts to go down hill waaaay to fast. Christina thinks it's going quite well, she has made a new friend, gotten a boyfriend and so on... but her ex-mates have a evil plan.

We really thought this movie was awesome, I mean we actually got chills from the movie. It's not your typical "naw I'm getting bullied help me help them" movie. It's real life... you have seen it happen, you can really believe it, you can even smell it... almost anyway.
It's so realistic we got goose bumps.
So we give this movie a easy 8.3/10, and it's to much to write why.
All we can say is that its a Dannish movie, with young good actors, and a language I doubt the danish people even understand.
WATCH IT...!!!:..!!!

Sugar & Spice

Sugar & Spice (2001)

Mena Suvari as a bad ass bank robbing cheerleader... what more do you need?
After Diane Weston, the popular head cheerleader of Lincoln High School's A-squad, becomes pregnant by the star football quarterback, Diane and her four cheerleader teammates, Kansas, Cleo, Lucy, Hannah, as well as newcomer Fern, plan the perfect bank robbery to make their dreams come true.

So I really needed a fix or something after Seeing Another Gay Sequel, this movie really did it. It was funny, interesting and some cool actors.
Mena who played Kansas did not have such a big role as I wished. Sure she had her moments, but in overall MORE MENA... I also thought Fern was pretty interesting, though she had a even smaller part than Kansas. If those had gotten a little more time in the movie I think it would have been a hit.

I would have to give this movie a 6.8/10... I have seen better and I have seen worse. It's definatly worth a watch...

Another Gay Sequel: Gays Gone Wild

Another Gay Sequel: Gays Gone Wild! (2008)

The title says it all. For you who have seen the first movie (Another Gay Movie) you get the idea.
This is not a porno, though not far away from it. It's still a parody with an all gay characters list. The First one had a spoof of the first American Pie movie, but everyone was gay and so. There is not that much different with this one.

All though in this one they go on spring break to Fortlauderdale (Like in American pie 2) there we have the gays version of Dinah Shore... though more sex... I think.
Anyways so the boys go there to fuck and be fucked. They enter an competition 'Gays gone wild' where you should sleep with as many guys as possible.

I really think the slogan for this movie fits the movie "ANOTHER GAY MOVIE was about getting laid for the first time. In true gay fashion, ANOTHER GAY SEQUEL: GAYS GONE WILD! is about who can get laid the most."

I really think the first one is quite funny and such... though this had to much sex and no plot I still think that the ones who liked the first one would like this one two.
I give it a 4/10 and it's a big - since the whole original cast was not in the movie. Only our beloved Nico.

Hell Ride

Hell Ride (2008)

Naked ladies, people shooting each others with harpoons and people riding motorcycles. Did we mention this was a Larry Bishop movie and Tarantino had some part in it... though we do not know which.

It's about Pistolero, the leader of the mc gang 'Victories' who is after a treasure. But they are not alone... Another gang called '666'-ers lead by Billy Wings (Vinnie Jones). We get to follow them through their hunt. They go through dead people, naked ladies and a lot of booze.
In the middle we have the hot Angelina Jolie copy who don't look like Angelina Jolie at all. She has a fire in her pants and tries to call the fire truck but Pistelero wants to take the fire on with his tongue.
Nada (as the hot Angelina not looking like Angelina copy is named) is the best part in this movie... Her lines is pure genius, she's hot and does not have fake boobs (which was a very rare thing in this movie) She had an awesome turquoise motorcycle and we are going to steel it.

After seeing this movie we got an epiphany.... WE ARE GONNA START A MOTORCYCKLE GANG. No we are serious, I mean there is no downside apart from the might getting shot. Hot girls, cool leather vests, Me and Em as gang leaders and Helene on her pink bicycle (she hates pink).
We would skip the guns part and just use our feminine wise *wink* *wink* to get things go our way.
We give this movie a very very nice 9/10... Mostly cos of the Angelina ........... Not so lookalike and the conversations between the characters ooooh and the fights.

5ive Girls

5ive Girls (2006)

Is a horrorish movie. It reminds me of The Craft meets Satan’s school for girls. I first just checked through the movie fast to see what it was and got the feeling it was a B flick with B actors and B effects. The only thing of those assumptions was the B actors part. Some were good, some were okey.

The movie takes place in a catholic school for girls. It starts with a girl vanishing without a trace during 'magical' circumstances. The movie later picks up five years later when five girls who all have special powers. They are 'rebels' who are there to become nice little girls who do as everyone says. Though the head mistress has other plans for the five girls.
Alex one of the girls (the main girl sort of) starts to see Elizabeth (the vanishing girl) and soon realizes that nothing is what it seems.

The movie got a 4.6/10 on imdb which I find rather low. I mean sure the acting could have been better. But it was a nice interesting not to predictable plot, great special effects, dark humor and a blind girl who goes on a ghost hunt. What more do you need?
I think the movie at least deserves a 6.5/10... at Least.

Underworld 3: Rise of the Lycans

So for you all Underworld fans out there who has not heard Underworld 3: Rise of the Lycans is being released now during 2009.
I only heard rumors before but now I got my confirmation.

It's about when the lycans (werewolves) where slaves for the vampires. Viktor's (Bill Nighy) daughter Sonja (Rhona Mitra from Doomsday and Skinwalkers) falls in love with one of the lycans, Lucian (Michael Sheen).
For the ones who have seen the other Underworld movies you have heard and seen small clips from this storyline.
I'm very happy about these news... The cast is amazing and from what I've seen on the trailer it has a lot of promise.

But as you all might not know Sweden has a tendensy of being very slow on taking in movies and such so I'll have to wait until 13 march... But the one who waits for something good *wink*

Romasanta

Romasanta (2004)

Had a really nice cover. But that was it.
It's based on the true story about Manuel Romasanta who in 1852 was accused for murdering 15 people. People thought he was a wolf who haunted his victims.
He was a traveling salesman who made soup out of the body fat from his victims.

The movie is about just that. Romasanta and the person who finally got him caught. Barbara's sisters got killed by Romasanta and when she finally realizes that he killed them she runs away. When she has taken a good nights nap she decides to go after Romasanta and avenge her sister.

This movie seemed so promising but ended up a disappointment. The only thing that happen in the movie who was the slightes interesting was when Barbara took a bath... and that says a lot about this movie.
I'll give it a 2/10. I really don't know what to say. I mean it could have been so good, the acting was good and the sets where good but even so it turns out like crap.
God I hate when it ends up like that.

Let the right one in

Let the right one in (2008)

Oscar is bullied in school, he’s the quiet boy who is too scared to stand up for himself unless when he’s alone, talking to trees. Then one day a girl moves in next to him, her name is Eli and she is odd in every way. When they meet she makes it clear they will never be friends, but something happen between them. She teaches Oscar to stand up for himself but not all is well when he finds out Eli’s secret.

The relationship between these two is fragile and at times built on fear but it’s beautiful.
It’s about friendship, understanding, love and revenge.

This is a Swedish movie but don’t let that scare you off. It’s amazing. It’s beautifully shot and the acting is great. The kids (Lina Leandersson & Kåre Hedebrant) play their roles to perfection.
Sure some of the effects may look fake but it doesn’t matter because they are supposed to. Mostly it’s just well made and stunning. Some effects are also so amazing it makes up for the bad ones.
This is a movie that has already created a buzz outside of Sweden and there is a re-make planned for 2010. Please watch this though, don’t wait for a badly made, half ass re-make by some American. I doubt any re-make could ever top this one.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1139797/

I (Emelie) give this a 9.8/10

Repo! The Genetic Opera

Repo! The Genetic Opera (2008)

From Imdb (did not quite get the movie)
"In the year 2056 - the not so distant future - an epidemic of organ failures devastates the planet. Out of the tragedy, a savior emerges: GeneCo, a biotech company that offers organ transplants, for a price. Those who miss their payments are scheduled for repossession and hunted by villainous Repo Men. In a world where surgery addicts are hooked on painkilling drugs and murder is sanctioned by law, a sheltered young girl searches for the cure to her own rare disease as well as information about her family's mysterious history. After being sucked into the haunting world of GeneCo, she is unable to turn back, as all of her questions will be answered at the wildly anticipated spectacular event: The Genetic Opera."

This movie I did not like. Sure I do not like musicals that much but the plot is boring, the songs are bad and most importantly Paris Hilton is in it. There are two awesome things that happens in this movie.
1. Joan Jett appears around 58 minutes into the movie, and before that nothing good happened.
2. Paris Hilton drops her face... literally.
I also have to admit the movie where amazingly shot and it had great potential. Unfortunately they did not use the opportunity.
Musical geeks might enjoy this movie, even people who don't... as long as they are either tired, high, drunk or just out of there mind.

I'll give this movie a 3.5/10, for how it was shoot.

Stratosphere Girl

Stratosphere Girl (2004)

Is a movie from German writer/director Matthias X. Oberg. The cast consists of supermodel Chloé Winkel who plays the main character Angela. We also see one of Sweden’s better know actresses Tuva Novotny, Hollands Tara Elders and so on. As you might have realized this movie has many actresses and actors from different parts of the world.

Its about Angela, a Belgian (who studied in Germany) who after her graduation party
goes with the dances DJ back to Tokyo. There she starts to work in a bar where she acts like a kind of escort girl or something similar. Though no sex involved.
Soon she starts realize that things aren’t as it seems. She starts to investigate a murder, a murder from one of the girls who used to work and live with her roommates/colleagues.
As an aspiring artist she draws everything she can and she soon starts to realize that t
he answer is in her drawings.

This movie is just wonderful. It says on the DVD cover that it's a mix between Lost in Translation, Amelie from Montmartre and Japan animé and I so agree. The cast is really interesting, the sets and the plot has some very great twist. You don't know where the movie is going but that's kind of the thrill of it.
This is Chloé's first and only movie so far. But it does not show. Either she has taken classes or it's just in her nature.
I'll give this movie a 8/10.
I also love how they mix the comics with the reality.
Awesome, pure genius.

In My Father's Den

In My Father's Den (2004)

I (Elin) first heard about this movie from my friend Nikki. She really recommended it to me and now I see why.
It starts of with a funeral, more precise Paul Prior's (Matthew Macfadyen) dads funeral. Paul has not been home in 17 years. He left everything and went out in the world and eventually did become an acclaimed photographer.
When he gets home his brother is both surprised and happy (I think) that he's back. Soon Paul befriends Celia Steimer (Emily Barclay) a 16 year girl who have some kind of connection to Pauls past. When Celia later disappears Paul is the first to be blamed. Soon he has to decover the truth about the now and the past.

The movie is not in a chronological order. It's mixed with flashbacks and random images of the nature. The shoots of the nature really gives you the feeling that New Zeeland is the place to be. But only for a short while... at least for me. But I love the accents, the acting, the plot, the way it's shoot, the twist in the story and most importantly I do love the soundtrack. See it and you'll know what I mean.
I'll give this movie a 8/10, even though you might not watch it over and over it's still a masterpiece. It's just to bad the director and writer (Brad McGann) died before making more movies.

Kinky Boots

Kinky Boots (2005)

Is about making 2.5 feet of irresistible, tubular, SEX!
Any questions?

When Charlie's dad dies he goes back to Northampton to take over the fathers shoe factory. When he then realizes that it's about to go bankrupt he starts to look into new markets. Landing in making shoes for drag queens.
So after a night on the town in London he bumps into Lola/Simon, a drag queen by night and after meeting Charlie shoe designer by day.
We then get to follow Lola, Charlie and Lauren (Sarah Jane-Potts), the girl who didn't accepted to be fired so she made Charlie come up with a new concept of work, on there journey from 'comfy' shoes to 'heels of sex' shoes.
It's all settled in Milan.

We give this movie a 9/10 (Emelie and Helene) and Elin gives it a 8/10... but she's sick so she does not count since she was half dead during the whole movie.

Watermelon

Watermelon (2003)

Have you read the book?? no need to, this is an absolutley wonderful and funny as a chicken singing "I'll kill the birds" (Elin has a fever and is high on cough medicine with 96% etanol)

Anyway the movie is about Claire Ryan (Anna Friel our darling from Pushing Daisies) who goes to London from Dublin to work in journalism. She goes on an interview who do not end up that good (she pukes in the fish tank) which end up in her boyfriend dumping her... But guess what.
She did not even have time to make her bed before another one jumped in to it. When this new guy realizes (thinks) his going to be a dad everything changes.
When she later gets dumped after giving brith (still at the hospital) she goes home to Dublin and her family who do not know about the child.
Claires family is absolutley wonderful. Her mother is just qute and funny, dad is well he is a dad and her sister... what can we say about the sister. Elin is already married to this woman in her head (and this was before she saw the movie), her lines are pure genious, she's everywhere and nowhere and her role should have gotten a bigger part. Did we mention that the sister was played by Elaine Cassidy? okey now you know so sit back and enjoy the ride.
Well things soon starts to happend and so but we are not gonna spoil the ending.

We give this a 8/10, Helene gives it a 6.7/10 (most points for Elaine... so thought Elin. Emelie on the other hand just sat there an waited for a certain pie maker to appear...)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0328626/

Elaine we drewl, Helene steals our candy, Elin is high on Elaine and cough medcine, Emelie happy over seeing Annas "private balloons"

Flashbacks of a Fool

Flashbacks of a Fool (2008)

Is about Joe (Daniel Craig), an actor who's gone bad (drinks and fuck like there is no tomorrow). When he later realizes that nobody wants him and that his best friend from his youth died he starts thinking back at some events during a week in his youth.
This week a lot happen. The Flashback starts with him and his best friend Booth masturbating in one of those scary rides you can have at the carnival.
It is the 70s, the hair, the style and the music. There is four main persons in the flashback who have an impact on what to come. It's Booth (the best friend), Ruth (The girl that everyone wants), Himself of course and his neighbor Evelyn played by (one of my favorite actresses) Jodhi May.
I'm not going to revile what's happening in the flashback but I can say this... It's the best part in the movie.
One other thing I found quite strange (for me). I have never seen Jodhi naked before... I am serious... and I have seen like 5-6 movies with her... and in this movie she's more naked than dressed which felt kind of awkward... but hey she does have a great body...
There were a bit too much of sex, talk and sand part wise in this movie.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1037218/

I'll give it a 6/10. It is not worth to buy but defiantly worth to have a look.
Keeley Hawes also appears as the pain in the ass (but very cool) adult baby sister to Joe...
